Description:
Crystal vases commissioned by the restaurant, La Coupole, in the Montparnasse district of Paris have become extremely collectable. Every year the restaurant would commission Russian artist A. Riecke (living in Paris) to design and create a limited edition of crystal vases and candle sticks. The fronts always have the year and a logo etched into the glass.  This pair, with the traditional skyscraper lines, has two balls on the side. The shape of the vase is an octagon at the top, which becomes a square at the bottom. On one side there are two etched rectangles; on the other side is a single wider etched rectangle. They are large and impressive, and they were intended to be used together as a pair.
