An original charcoal and crayon composition by famed artist and sculptor Suze Lowenstein, signed and dated 1985. Suse Lowenstein was a painter until she turned to sculpture. After losing her oldest son in 1988 on Pan Am Flight 103, she created "Dark Elegy," for which she.interviewed 76 mothers, grandmothers, and sisters of victims, and photographed them when they began talking about the moment they found out their loved one had died. The sculptures are larger than life. The 20th anniversary of the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing was commemorated by four sculptures at Syracuse University. On December 21, 1988, 276 people, including 35 Syracuse University students and faculty, were killed when a terrorist detonated a bomb on the plane. The flight was heading back to the United States from England when it exploded over Lockerbie Scotland. This is a stunning work by Lowenstein.
