  An amazingly beautiful homage to an icon of dance, Isadora Duncan. Maxwell Simpson painted this in 1933 (some years after the dancers death). It is painted on the reverse of an old wooden sign. Signed and dated, Maxwell Simpson 1933. The size of the painting (without the frame) is 60" high by 27" wide. Maxwell Stewart Simpson was born in September of 1896. He began his formal training at the National Academy of Design and later attended classes at the Art Students League. In the early 1920's Simpson traveled to Europe and studied in France, Italy and England, often painting portraits for room and board. He also exhibited extensively while in Europe. He returned to America and further developed his own style a blending of Modernism and Realism.
